CABARET CELEBRATES NEW YEAR'S EVE

The indie pop-rock band GrooveLily as they spread some holiday warmth on cold winter nights performing their acclaimed musical, STRIKING 12, at THE METROPOLITAN ROOM (34 West 22nd Street, NYC - 212-206-0440) for a week long engagement December 26th through 31st. STRIKING 12 is the story of a Grumpy Guy who decides to avoid the hectic, loveless world on New Year's Eve, until he's visited by an incandescent salesgirl with the promise to chase away his winter doldrums. Combining pop-rock, musical comedy and old-fashioned uplift with a healthy dose of 21st-century skepticism, this festive tale will ignite the holiday spirit and illuminate the coming season with an electrifying, rockin' performance that cannot be matched. Marlene Verplanck with The Diva Jazz Trio will perform on New Year's Eve, December 31st at THE KITANO HOTEL'S GARDEN CAFE (66 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-885-7119) and at the same time, the great vibraphonist, Joe Locke, will be performing upstairs in THE KITANO HOTEL'S BAR & LOUNGE. Always a delight and always containing something unexpected, unplanned and unrepentantly wrong, Natalie Douglas returns for her 14th year, performing in Greenwich Village for New Year's Eve and a great way to spend the night far, far away from the maddening crowd at Times Square. At 7:30 pm, Natalie will present "A VERY BARBRA NEW YEAR". Miss Douglas is setting her golden pipes on the songs of Miss Barbra Streisand. Natalie did a show in 2004 that focused on Barbra's early career, but now the whole catalog is up for grabs and she's taking no prisoners. She's going to raise the roof on this one! FEINSTEIN'S at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue, NYC - 212-339-4095) will celebrate a very special New Year's Eve with the club's founder Michael Feinstein and three time Tony-nominated Broadway star Kelli O'Hara. The two star performers will join together for an evening of timeless standards and romantic pop classics. The night will have two shows, at 7:00 and 10:30 pm on Saturday, December 31st. Michael Feinstein, the multi-platinum-selling, five-time Grammy-nominated entertainer is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. His 200-plus shows a year have included performances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace. He serves on the Library of Congress' National Recording Preservation Board, which ensures the survival, conservation and increased public availability of America's sound recording heritage. Kelli O'Hara has unequivocally established herself as one of Broadway's great leading ladies. This fall, Kelli starred alongside Sam Waterson in the Public Theater's production of King Lear. In a career spanning five decades, pianist Monty Alexander has built a reputation exploring the worlds of American jazz, popular song, and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression. Born on D-Day (June 6, 1944) and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, he took his first piano lessons at age six but was largely self-taught. His musical collaborations span multiple genres and styles. In August 2000 Monty Alexander was awarded the title of Commander in the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican government for outstanding services to Jamaica in his capacity as worldwide music ambassador. Alexander maintains a rigorous touring schedule worldwide, from jazz clubs to concert halls and playing at Jazz Festivals. To date Monty Alexander has recorded over 70 albums as a leader. CABARET CELEBRATES NEW YEAR'S EVE

Tony Award-nominated Broadway star Sam Harris will ring in the New Year 2012 with SAM HARRIS & FRIENDS at the EL PORTAL THEATRE (5269 Lankershim Boulevard, North Hollywood, CA - 818-508-4200) on Saturday, December 31st with shows at 4:00 & 10:00 pm. Mr. Harris will be joined by Tony Award-winner Levi Kreis (Million Dollar Quartet), Broadway heartthrob David Burnham (Wicked, The Light in the Piazza) and many more! With Music Director Todd Schroeder at the piano. As the first winner of Star Search, Harris was the original "idol" with a career which has spanned over three decades! Sam has continued to wow audiences with his breathtaking vocal's and charismatic stage performances in his Tony Award-winning turn in the original Broadway cast of The Life, as well as, The Producers, Liza at The Palace, Grease and the forth coming "Schmoolie & Minnooli" starring opposite Oscar and Tony Award-winner Liza Minnelli. CABARET CELEBRATES NEW YEAR'S EVE

Kim Nalley and Houston Person join forces to perform "A Soulful Jazz New Year" at RRAZZ ROOM at THE HOTEL NIKKO (222 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-394-1189 ) for a special NEW YEAR'S EVE celebration with shows at 7:30 & 10:30 pm. Recently named one of the "Ten Most Influential African Americans in the Bay Area," Kim Nalley has an international reputation as one of world's best jazz blues vocalists. Described as "jazz's working class hero, a true man of the people," Houston Person came to national attention with a series of soulful albums recorded for Prestige in the 1960s. Person's fame grew still more with his successful 30-year musical partnership with vocalist Etta Jones. Nalley & Person join forces for A Soulful Jazz New Year. There is a $75 cover plus a 2-drink minimum for the 7:30 pm show. The 10:30 pm show, which includes party favors, countdown to 2011, champagne toast at midnight and post-show buffet, has a $150 cover plus a 2-drink minimum.

The first show (call for exact show time) will feature Chanteuse, Kathy Holly; Violinist, Francine Passa & Accordionist, Tom Torriglia. The second show (call for exact show time) features Chanteuse, Kathy Holly; Violinist, Francine Passa & Accordionist, David Miotke with Special Guest Vocalist, Steven Walsh. Each show includes a fabulous dinner and a memorable evening of lively international songs and music to bring you into the New Year. This unique restaurant takes you back to 15th Century France, the time of Joan Of Arc, replete with tapestries, statues, artifacts and stained glass windows. The Prix Fixe New Year's Eve Menu offers 5 courses with choices of salads, entrees and desserts and Champagne! Dinner/show cost is $74 per person.
